6 Lessons in Softness: Reflections from 6 Years of Kiya

Hey Kiya Collective,

On September 13th, we turn six.

Six whole years of shea, stories, and showing up, sometimes tired, sometimes glowing, always with heart.

What started with a handful of handmade products and a deep desire to care has grown into something so much bigger than skincare. And that’s because of you.

As we step into our seventh year, we wanted to pause and reflect. Not just on what we’ve built, but on what we’ve learned.

Here are six lessons in softness we’re carrying forward, and we hope they land gently with you, too:

 

1. 

Softness Is Strength

We’ve been taught to hustle, grind, and prove. But we’ve learned that softness, the kind that nurtures, protects, and restores, is a power in itself.

Our products were created with this truth in mind. And so was this community.

2. 

The Ritual Is the Reward

Taking care of your skin isn’t just about results, it’s about the moment you take a breath, slow down, and honour yourself.

That 3 minutes of shea butter after a shower? That’s a ceremony. That’s self-love.

Community Is the Core Ingredient

We wouldn’t be here without the Kiya Collective.

Your messages, your photos, your stories, your support, you remind us why we do this. You’ve made Kiya more than a brand. You’ve made it a sisterhood.

Consistency Beats Perfection

We’ve had launches go beautifully. We’ve had plans that didn’t quite land.

But showing up, again and again, even when it’s messy, is what has helped us grow. Same goes for your skin, your habits, and your healing.

There’s Magic in Keeping It Simple

Our formulas are rooted in simplicity. Natural, effective, no fluff.

And in a world that constantly tells you to do more and buy more, choosing less, with intention, is its own kind of rebellion.

Growth Isn’t Always Loud

Sometimes growth is a new formula. Sometimes it’s a slow, quiet pivot.

Sometimes it’s just believing in your own worth a little more than you did last year. We’ve grown, not just as a business, but as women (and men!). And we’re proud of that.
