SCALP MASSAGES AND HAIR GROWTH

SCALP MASSAGES AND HAIR GROWTH

Hey Kiya Beauty!

So today we will be discussing scalp massages, do they really work and if so how?

Let's get into it!

Do Scalp Massages Really Encourage Growth?

Okay so let's get a bit technical first. According to research, scalp massage increases hair thickness by stretching the cells of hair follicles. As a result, this stimulates the follicles to produce thicker hair. It's also thought that a scalp massage can help to stimulate blood vessels beneath the skin, thereby encouraging hair growth.

Okay that sounds great, so how does it work?

On wash day, it's a good idea to ramp up the TLC by giving your scalp and good massage during the conditioning session or with oil on your fingertips. There are three ways to typically go about this on wash day.

1. Apply an oil to your scalp prior to shampooing as a pre-poo (pre-shampoo treatment) or otherwise known as a hot oil treatment. After applying your oil of choice to your fingertips, we recommend our Kiya's Hair Growth Oil, you can then give yourself a good massage for a few minutes all over, to relax before continuing on the rest of your wash day.

2. If you do decide to massage your scalp while conditioning, you should forgo doing it in the shower and opt for a seated position. This way you can give yourself the best massage when you’re free of distractions, and managing shampooing, exfoliating and washing will take away from your relaxation.

3. Option 3 is that you can do your scalp massage as a final step at the end of your wash day. After rinsing your conditioner, take your Kiya's Hair Growth Oil and apply it to your scalp using its nozzle tip. The peppermint and rosemary oil will stimulate scalp circulation, while the infusion of lavender and other essential oil protect and soothes your scalp.

These are the three points that you can add in a scalp massage on wash day, but you can always slip one in during the week whilst Netflix and chilling or for a few minutes before bed!

BONUS TIPS

- If you’re wearing a protective style, apply it to your partings.

- Always use the pads of your fingers (the area just below the fingertip), and massage in small circles, making sure to never scratch as this can damage your scalp.

- Focus your attention on massaging your temples and the hairline first. This relieves tension and increases the blood flow to the entire scalp.

- Massage down to your ears to the nape of your neck, then up the middle of your head back to the very top. This method ensures that you reach all of the major points of your scalp.

Repeat this cycle for at least five minutes every week to encourage growth.

So there you have it, this was a quick Kiya Breakdown on scalp massages and hair growth. I really hope you found it useful, if you have your own tips, please share them below!
