How to Transition Your Skincare Routine from Summer to Autumn

How to Transition Your Skincare Routine from Summer to Autumn

Soft skin for cooler days, coming right up.

Hey Kiya Collective,

There’s something about late August, the way the air starts to shift, the golden light stretching just a little softer, the gentle reminder that a new season is on its way.

As we move from warm, sun-drenched days into crisp autumn mornings, our skin feels it too. The products that kept us glowing all summer might not hit the same once the temperature drops and the air gets drier.

But don’t worry, this transition doesn’t have to be dramatic. Just intentional.

Here’s how to gently shift your skincare routine from summer to autumn, using natural, nourishing products that support dry-prone skin every step of the way.

🍃 1. Switch to Creamier, More Emollient Moisturisers

That lightweight gel or lotion you used all summer? It may not cut it anymore.

As the air becomes cooler and drier, your skin will crave richer textures that help lock in hydration and protect the skin barrier.

Try: Our Whipped Shea Butter, it’s thick, dreamy, and melts beautifully into the skin, especially when applied to damp skin post-shower. Start with a small amount and build as needed.

💦 2. Layer Hydration and Moisture (Yes, Both!)

Autumn air = lower humidity = more water loss from your skin.

You’ll want to double down on hydration (water) and moisture (oils/butters) to keep your skin plump and happy.

The Ritual:

  • Start with our Tea Tree & Niacinamide Toner for a refreshing, hydrating base.
  • Follow with our Rejuvenating Facial Serum to deeply nourish and soothe.
  • Finish with your moisturiser or SPF to seal it all in.

🧼 3. Use a Gentle Cleanser That Doesn’t Strip Your Skin

Cold weather can already leave skin feeling tight, your cleanser shouldn’t add to that.

Avoid harsh foaming formulas and opt for something gentle and balancing.

Try: Our African Black Soap Bar, made with nourishing plant-based ingredients, it cleanses without disrupting your skin’s natural oils. Perfect for face and body.

🌬️ 4. Exfoliate, But Don’t Overdo It

With less sweat and oil production, dead skin cells can build up faster in autumn, but over-exfoliating can lead to irritation.

Our Tip:

Use our Shea Body Scrub with Coconut & Rose Petals once or twice a week to gently smooth the skin and help your products absorb better.

🧴 5. Don’t Ditch SPF Just Yet

Even though the sun feels softer, UV rays are still present, and they can still damage and dry out your skin.

Layer it: After your serum and before any makeup or daily moisturiser.

SPF is a year-round act of self-care.

🍂 Final Thoughts

Transitioning your skincare isn’t about overhauling everything, it’s about tuning in.

To your skin. To the season. To the softness your body is asking for.

This is your permission to slow down, lean into warmth, and start nourishing from the inside out.

And as always, we’re here for every step of your glow-up journey.
